Our coaching team, made up of former Pro Tour and Division I players, specialize in high performance junior development between the ages of six and eighteen.

Richard Tompkins

The namesake of Tompkins Tennis, Richard has over 30 years of experience developing high-level competitive juniors. In the past 15 years, he's produced over 20 local juniors who have achieved a top ten national ranking.  Richard has also coached several players at the junior grand slams!

There are few coaches who can match Richard’s energy or intensity levels on the court, and he has a gift for transferring those same traits to the students who work with him.

Andrei Cimpoaie

Andrei serves as regional tennis director for Tompkins Tennis having been with our academy for over 13 years.  He was born and raised in Romania where he ranked as high as #2 nationally.  After moving to the US he competed successfully in the 18 and under division. 


Andrei specializes in developing top nationally ranked juniors, and is currently coaching some of the top students at Tompkins Tennis. 

Jake Hobaugh

Born in Washington, Jake has competed and coached both internationally as well as all over the United States.  His tennis career started as a highly ranked junior before continuing his success into the men’s open division as well as serving as a hitting partner for touring ATP players.  Jake was the Head Men’s Tennis Coach at the University of Puget Sound while also establishing and operating the Hobaugh Tennis Academy. 


He has spent the last 10 years developing in high performance junior players who have collectively achieved 6 gold balls, qualified for the US Open Junior Boys Qualifying and Main Draws as well as scholarships to 8 different universities.  Jake is equally comfortable with adult clients with years of experience in adult programming and leagues.

Pablo Alvarez

Pablo comes to us from the John McEnroe Academy in New York where he coached for the past four years.  Prior to McEnroe, Pablo played Division 1 tennis for the University at Buffalo, earning his Bachelor’s degree in communications.  He played 1 and 2 singles and doubles for the team, was 1st team All-Conference twice, and awarded the Sportmanship Player of the Year in the MAC conference. As a captain, Pablo helped his team win the MAC tournament for the first time in program history, named MVP of the conference tournament and finals in 2015.


Pablo has coached some of the top ranked juniors in Spain, having had a successful junior career of his own.  He was ranked #13 in the nation and top 3 in Madrid in the 18u division.  We are incredibly happy to have Pablo with us as both a sparring partner and coach for our students!

Sharvill Nawghre

Sharvill Nawghre is an Indian born Tennis Professional. Sharvill is a former Division 1 Player and played at the No.1 Position at Queens College (NY) where he was Ranked No.1 in East Region and No. 8 in D2 Nationals for doubles. While also playing professionally on the Pro Tour. He was awarded Student Athlete of the Year, Player Of the Year and Senior of the Year from Queens College.

Experienced coach 5+ years in training all levels, specializing in high - performance kids and adult lessons. Certified by USPTR, GPTCA and RPT. Taught in 4 countries professionally. Former coach at the John McEnroe tennis academy & hitting partner for US Open 2018 & US Open Juniors 2018.

Sandy Tompkins

Sandy Tompkins is responsible for the academy's fitness and strength programs. She is a certified Personal Trainer, Sports Nutrition Certified, as well as TRX-certified. Sandy works one-on-one with juniors and adults in developing their off-court fitness programs.  Specializing in tennis specific conditioning, Sandy has also worked as a fitness trainer with both junior and professional tennis players competing in college and grand slams.

Ray Wu

Ray came to Tompkins Tennis with an impressive playing resume as one of the top competitors on the Chinese national team.  He has been working with top level juniors for over 15 years, specializing in players entering into tournament competition.

Jari Onley

Jari enjoyed a very successful college career, playing on a full scholarship at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and leading her team to the National Championships 4 years in a row.  While there, she completed her degree in International Business.  As a junior, she was ranked in the top 10 nationally in her home country of Slovakia.


Jari specializes in working to identify and nurture young talent, helping our students progress from red to yellow ball.  We are extremely fortunate to have Jari with us, setting a solid foundation for players as they enter into competition!

Teddy Antelj

Teddy was born in Serbia where his family owned Gemax, the top tennis club in the country.  He trained there as a junior reaching a top 20 national ranking before transitioning into work as a coach training players of every level. 


He played at both Bethany College and Newman University in Kansas, earning all-conference awards on both teams.  As a senior at Newman he served as captain of his team, and has brought that level of leadership to us at Tompkins Tennis.  As a high energy and driven coach, he pushes our students to always strive for their absolute best every second they are on court.

Roma Datashvili

Roma is one of the most experienced coaches at Tompkins, having been with the academy since 2009.  He has equally impressive playing and coaching resumes, having been the national champion in his home country of the Republic of Georgia, as well as assistant coach at the University of Montana.

Anica Knezevic

A native of Serbia, Anica was ranked in the top 20 nationally as a junior.  A multi-sport athlete, she also competed in track and field specializing in the long jump and 200m sprint.  In 2015 Anica received a scholarship to play tennis at the City University of New York where she double majored in Nutrition and Exercise Science.


For the past 4 years Anica has been coaching tennis in the Hamptons, working with her students not just on their tennis games but also physical development and nutrition.  She is an awesome addition to our team here at Tompkins, providing a valuable resource for any of our players looking for guidance on their fitness and diet!

Marta Morga

Marta comes to us from the John McEnroe Academy in New York where she coached for the past four years.  She enjoys working with players of all ages and skill levels from our Future Slammers class to Adult Clinics. 


Marta has had an impressive career, earning 7 WTA points while still a junior, earning a ranking of 1047 in the world!  With a top 10 junior ranking in Spain she earned a scholarship to the University of Memphis, where she majored in sports science and health performance.  Marta is an excellent addition to our team providing valuable insight for any players looking to earn college scholarships or play on tour.

Vlada Litvinova

In her native Russia, Vlada was a top junior ranked as high as #8 nationally as well as making it into the top 1000 Junior ITF rankings.  Her success on the junior circuit earned her a full scholarship to a D1 team in Louisiana, where she played before finishing her college career in Kansas.


Besides her tennis accolades, which include making the second team all conference team, Vlada earned distinction academically, making her college’s Dean’s list and graduating Cum Laude. She is also tri-lingual, speaking English, Russian and Spanish.
